Songs for upcoming performance

Hi Ensemblers

At the last meeting, we decided on the songs we will perform for the Santa Monica YMCA Talent Showcase, March 23rd at 3:00pm. Here is our playlist. Not sure what order we will do, but practice these songs:

Tennessee Waltz

Apache

Sukiyaki

At the next meeting, let me know if you are performing, so we will know how many players we have for each part.

The Y is a great venue, with friendly audiences, and low pressure. Hope you can make it!

Next YMCA Santa Monica Performance March 23, 2013

Hi Group

Our next YMCA Santa Monica performance is March 23rd at 3:00. Hope you can all make it. Give some thought to what we want to play. It would be nice to offer new pieces this time, but I don't think they would mind if we repeated one from last year.

Last night we played through the following songs: Blue Moon, Sophisticated Hula, Lollipop Guild, Tennessee Waltz, Apache, Eleanor Rigby, Sleigh Ride, 76 Trombones, Ode to Joy, and Sukiyaki (and added Wagon Wheel and All of Me for fun). I think we should polish up 3 songs for the Y performance. Think about what you would like to perform. The only ones in the list above that we haven't done for a YMCA performance are Apache, Tennessee Waltz, Sukiyaki and 76 Trombones. We also haven't performed So Nice yet, so that is another contender.

Peter played is work-in-progress arrangement of Appalachia Waltz, and I think that would be a really nice addition. I hope to work up Over the Rainbow/ Wonderful World and Bethena if I can carve some time out for it.

So, that's the latest! If you find any good songs, feel free to bring them, or if you want to try your hand at arranging something, please do!

Uploaded Sukiyaki to downloads

Hi Ensemblers

Since we introduced Sukiyaki at the last meeting, I have added it to the downloads folder. At the last meeting we also played Blue Moon, So Nice, Sophisticated Hula, Lollipop Guild, Tennessee Waltz, Apache, Eleanor Rigby, Sleigh Ride, 76 Trombones, Ode to Joy... did I forget any? Let me know. Anyway, I think we will continue with all of these. It was a fun meeting last Tuesday, with a great turnout. The new meeting room "The Cabin" seems to be working out very nicely. Thanks Coffee Connection!!

If there is anything missing in the downloads folder, please let me know.

Tuesday Jan 22 meeting

We are still reviewing songs for a potential Coffee Connection preformance (date to be determined). We have already chosen Tennessee Waltz, Blue Moon, Sophisticated Hula, Summertime, When You Wish Upon a Star, ToHuWaHuWai, Eleanor Rigby, You Are my Sunshine, Lollypop Guild, Ode to Joy, and hopefully Apache. I haven't had time to work on the Over the Rainbow/ Wonderful World tab, but that is still an option as well. Keep working on 76 Trombones too, even though we only have part one and chords for it at the moment. Hope to see you all there!

First Meeting of 2013!

Well, our first meeting in the New Year will be this Tuesday January 8th. Time to dust off those songs and see how we do. I think we will definitely do 76 Trombones, El Condor Pasa, Tennessee Waltz, along with all the others we have in the downloads folder, so make sure you have everything. I added Somewhere Over the Rainbow/ Wonderful World to explore whether or not we want to do an arrangement for that, so you might check it over and see what you think. Also, think about songs that you would like to suggest for our group. Hope to see you Tuesday night.
